Ahh spring, a symbol of new growth. How very appropriate I get to share information about the new growth of this website and blog.
I began this blog and website using the "start before you are ready" strategy. If one waits until everything is perfect before starting a project, it will probably never happen. Or, at the very least keep being put off...until everything is perfect...which of course, it rarely is.
I had two purposes when I started. The first is I am in the business of making and selling art. The second is, I want to be very transparent about the steps I take to have a successful art business. Why? Because I want to show all creative folks - and those folks who want to be creative - it can be done.
If you apply yourself to the very clear clues I will leave behind, you can have a successful art business, or become a better artist, or photographer. I want to be the living example of how to take your works to the next step and beyond.
I intuitively knew these things but had not reached verbal clarity about my purposes. Now, I have. I present to you...
The Living Laboratory
Yes, this blog and website are my living laboratory; an experiment that answers the question, "What happens if you...
- 1) follow the guidance of knowledgeable and successful artists/business owners and
- 2) wholeheartedly work that guidance?"
The blog and website are my very public tools for accountability, making sure I carry out every single step to achieve my goals. I've even committed the idea and description to Google!
"Rebecca LaChance explores life and business success through Art & Photography. She offers paintings, photographs, teaching and mentoring .
Leading by example
The best description of the intention and my process reaches all the way back to the vernacular of my Army days - "lead by example". (Huah!) That is what I am doing; learning to be a better photographer, artist, a better business woman. I apply, test and share my results. I am offering my experiences and hard earned knowledge so you can use what I share and achieve your creative goals - whatever they may be.
What can you look forward to?
The big "package" will be a more coherent look and message that will be unfolding as each week goes by. It will take a while to unwrap that big package, and I get to share every step of the way with you.
You will see the additions of a landing page, a shop page, class offerings just to name a few. You will definitely see a new "About Me" page.
Oh, you are still going to see those linchpins "Start where you are. Use what you have." After all, they are the basis of my "start before you're ready" strategy.
Start from where you are, even if you think you are not ready. You will be surprised at all the good things that will come your way.
Use what you have. The desire to explore, learn, and grow is the perfect tool.
I need your help
What would you like to see me discuss in future posts? Is there something about having an art/photography business that just seems to stop you in your tracks? What do you want to learn about photography? Night photography?
Share your suggestions, concerns, questions in the comments section. Thanks for all your help. I look forward to sharing whatever knowledge I may have with you.
