Of course not...
at least, not for me. Some people will complain, or tell you to step away from the camera...be in the moment.
But, this is what I have found; being behind the camera allows me to document and appreciate beauty. Beauty fills my soul and gives me comfort. Beauty allows me to feel hope despite the depths of darkness.
And...I am in that moment.
Since I am on vacation, I'll keep the words short and share what I've seen and experienced over this past week.
Enjoy the photos.
A Word of Warning
I offer the following information. The rip currents have been ferocious over the last five days. The water was so unsafe that beach patrols drove up and down the beaches, telling people to stay out of the water. Airplanes flew overhead dragging banners that read "Dangerous Rip Currents. Stay On Shore." Local news outlets warned of the rip currents with every news cast and weather update.
Sadly, two people perished in the waters; one young man who tested his fates, and the Good Samaritan who tried to save him.
And despite all the warnings, the shoreline was dotted with people like the couple in the photo below. Horrifically, many were small children with no caretakers at arms reach. Even parents carrying infants waded into the waters. They don't understand that even "knee-deep" in the water can be life threatening.
The skies cleared, the seas calmed...
And may the rest of your summer be filled with sunshine, gentle waves, laughs, good friends, and a whole lot of love.
Expect the best. Anything else is an adventure.
