The Easy-Peasy Reveal Wall
You can find all manner of plans for building a reveal wall if you search the web. Most of them involve nails, screws, two kinds of boards, ladders, saws, and all that other construction stuff.
By the time I reached this point in studio preparations, I was tired of ladders, saws, etc. Plus, I knew that in the future, I would be doing my reveals on a big screen. Hence, I didn't want to make the reveal wall semi-permanent; nor did I want to have to repair screw/nail holes in the walls when that time comes.
I had already decided to use heavy duty velcro (rated for 16 pounds) to attach my shelves to the wall. Now I just needed to find the appropriate shelving. Off to the big box hardware store...
Pre-primed molding is perfect for Reveal Shelving
I found this molding with a "lip" on it. It was pre-primed in white so I did not have to do any more painting. (Whew!) I purchased a piece 12 feet long and had the salesperson cut into three pieces of 4 feet.
The beauty of this system is I can move and reconfigure the shelves at will.
The total cost of the molding plus velcro was just over $12.00. Ahh, sweet relief to my wallet.
